There are quite a few different ways of altering the Windows default wallpaper through the Control Panel. However, the best method is to use a software utility that allows you to easily change any wallpaper you want to on your PC. Most people don’t like to perform this manually and want a program that they can just use from their own computer. This article will explain how to do this.
If you’re trying to change the Windows default background image then the first thing that you need to do is to go to the Control Panel by clicking on the Start button on the task bar. Then select the Control Panel button in the main menu that looks like multiple dots. You will see a list of all the programs and devices that are installed on your machine. Once you have found the appropriate Windows XP registry tools listed in the program list then double click them to open the Control Panel window.
You will see the system settings located at the left pane of the window.
Click on the Performance tab and then select advanced options if it’s available there. Under the General tab, you will find an option called Custom Windows Settings which has a tick mark next to it. If you have not altered these settings previously then you will click on this option.
When you have selected the Custom Windows Settings option then double click the image you want to modify. A new window will open and you can view the current setting that is in place for the current user. Select the image you want to modify and then change the values to match the values that are currently defined.
